Union Gen Body Meeting Recap
|
- Productive General Body Meeting Everyone!! We are gonna get folks fired up and ready to build a campaign to END ALL EMPLOYEE FEES! We got through a crash course on “The Anatomy of a Campaign” because we need to build a strong base to win!
- But a strong base can only be built when we can make space for workers from every department to speak and share their struggles. Hearing these stories is how we build true solidarity and learn how to have each other’s backs! We also planned to create an organizing reading list this Friday!

Today, our tradition of attending our Board of Trustee’s meeting at the end of the Fall semester continues! Special shout out to our fellow member and co-chair, Lucy R (MEAS Dept) for speaking truth to power with The Technician today:
“Under the GSSP, which is the graduate student support plan, they forebode having a second income or an income outside of the university, so it’s really hard for graduate students to get their financial needs met.” (Full article here)
Speaking of which, sick and tired of fees and paying to park? All the more reason to sign our petition!
-
11/14/2025 - This Friday, Join UE150 from 12-1 pm to meet with the housekeepers at Bragaw Hall Lounge! Also sign our petition to support their demands.
- 11/24/2025 - Attend our grade-in/work in! Monday afternoon in Talley. It’s a great way to build support and solidarity within our Union and stay publicly visible. Share the message and recommend attending the grade-in to fellow students if you attend any wellness day events on campus! We also want to hear from you what days, times, and locations work best for you for future grade-ins! Send a reply to this email!

11/18/2025 - We have officially signed on in our union's name for Organizing 4 Power online Zoom training, starting next Tuesday at 8 pm! We're joining over 9000 people from 500 organizations and 90 countries to fight for climate, labor, and racial justice. The world is burning, but so is our will to fight! This training gives us the method to turn our passion into action.
If you are interested, before next Tuesday, read up on this short tale of the workers of a certain grocery store, and the tenants of a certain apartment complex, who both share the same awful landlord.
And we encourage you to read the intro to Jane Mcalevey’s No Shortcuts.
Sign up so that we know to coordinate with you for the next 3 weeks, including making sure you are getting the Zoom link. That said, some of us might be looking into doing a watch party in a classroom, so stay tuned!! https://actionnetwork.org/forms/ncsu-campus-workers-sign-up-for-power-up-a-four-part-course-on-the-core-fundamentals-of-organizing/

Did you know... the cooks, the baristas, the servers, and the bartenders in Downtown Raleigh are also working to build power just like us?
Just last year on January, 2024, The Raleigh Food and Beverage United started their first public campaign by walking out on what would have been the busiest night of their week, on Young Hearts Distilling, a bar co-owned by Trophy Brewery's David Meeker, Les Stewart, and Chris Power for Unfair Labor Practice. The workers who walked out got four of their demands met! Change is possible!

Our union is like a potluck—it only works when everyone contributes, and the changes we want are the dishes we all must help cook (and clean up after)! What can you bring to the table?
We need two key ingredients:
While both are crucial, we are more focused on growing the number of members who can be committed to action, however small they may be. Email us at ncsugradworkers@gmail.com to discuss how you can best contribute!
